Eolian is a new kind of development company. We build local, clean energy projects where they are wanted. So when we find a quality site to develop a renewable solar energy or wind energy project, our first call is the Town Hall.

We know that a properly sited and designed project can bring decades of benefit to landowners and communities while steadily restoring our power supply with carbon-free electricity.  

Eolian innovates in every way possible to mitigate impacts our developments may create. We are working with turbine and tower manufacturers to deploy new tower technologies that do not require massive crawler cranes to erect. This means smaller roads, more compact staging areas, and less initial site disruption.

Eolian also conducts comprehensive third party carbon audits on every project we build. We then offset the carbon emitted during construction and deployment. Not because we need to, or because we are paid to, but because it seems to us to be the right way to develop. We are committed to a carbon-negative future and we are doing our part to get there.

All energy solutions need to be financially viable to function. Eolian reads from several bottom lines, including the net effect of our projects on ecological and social solvency. Renewable Energy For Communities

Balancing the need for preservation and the need for development is a challenge every community faces. The process involves many stakeholders with diverse interests. Eolian seeks to create a partnership between landowners, communities and our representatives during the development process.

We start with a conceptual overview of the proposed project to make sure that we build understanding of the benefits and impacts of clean energy projects. When comparing community-scale wind and solar farms to other types of developments, there are significant advantages for towns and property owners.

Wind and solar developments bring in tax revenue and also pay royalties to landowners. They can provide discounted electricity to building owners and help establish the community as a leader in the transition to a distributed, clean energy future.

And our developments bring these lasting benefits without the traditional costs that often accompany economic development such as increased police requirements, more school spaces, busing and roads.

Projects

Eolian currently has projects in active stages of development in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, Michigan and North Dakota. Our projects range in size from 1-2 turbines in the multi-megawatt size class to 25-30 MW wind farms. Eolian handles every stage of the development process – we build own and operate the generation assets that we develop.
